About The Wine
The modern age of La Tour Blanche starts in the mid-17th century with a man named Monsieur de Saint-Marc, a clerk of the court of the Bordeaux parliament. It was he that built a chateau and a tower here. A subsequent owner was Frederick Focke, one of the local German community and a moderniser who pioneered such techniques as harvesting is numerous passes through the vineyard. Due to his efforts, La Tour Blanche was classified premier cru classé in 1855. Alas, M Focke died that same year. The property was then bought by Daniel Iffla (known for some reason as Osiris), a wealthy financier who loved wine. He died without issue and passed La Tour Blanche to the French state with the proviso that a wine school be opened on the site. There is a school on the site to this day (although the wine is grown and made by professionals). Please be advised that deliveries outside mainland UK may incur additional charges.
