Not what you might expect from this part of the world. This white blend has a Chardonnay base, fermented in stainless steel tanks with a bit of time on the lees for extra body. Inviting and complex on the nose, with subtle honeyed, floral notes. The palate is oily with a long, lemon peel finish. Outstanding with food, meaty fish or white meat, or, thanks to a healthy dose of Avesso, this wine is stunning drank on its own.Outside of its natural beauty and cultural heritage, Quinta de Covelas location is important to note. Situated on the right bank of the Douro River, the estate straddles the Douro Valley Region to the east, and Vinho Verde to the west. Covela enjoys a maritime/continental microclimate with higher rainfall than the Douro Valley.
