This 90 year old Gigondas estate in is run by Pierre Amadieu, for his Cuvée Prestige Vieille Vignes he uses old vines up to 50 years of age; Grenache 65% and Syrah 15% from his highest lying vines up to 400m on stony chalk soils and Mouvedre 20% from the lower warmer slopes aged in a mix of 30% new and old oak barriques and larger oak cuves. The high altitudes give real freshness and balance to this wine, red fruits from the Grenache and darker, spicier, herbal twist from the Syrah and Mouvedre with complex ripe tannins. This is starting to drink very well but would keep well too.
Awarded 92 points in The Wine Advocate in 2018.
Style: full bodied, complex, fruity, long, powerful, spicy, warm
Maturity: drinking now but will age well
