The Topanito brand stands for high-quality authentic tequila as well as mezcal made from 100% agave - and shows that quality does not always have to be expensive.
The addition of "Mezcal Artesanal" identifies original Mexican and artisan mezcal that is not produced industrially.
For the most part, the easy-to-cultivate Espadín agave is used in Mezcal production; less attention is paid to the remote wild agaves, which often grow over decades and develop extraordinary aromas.
Topanito therefore offers with the wild agaves Madre Cuishe, Tobalá and Tepeztate a series of a special kind.
The wild agaves are harvested by hand and roasted in earth pits filled with charcoal for five to eight days. The cooked piñas are then traditionally ground with a stone mill and double distilled in copper kettles five days later.
The Madre Cuishe agave belongs to the "Karwinskii agave" family and can be harvested after 12 to 15 years of ripening. This agave species is found in particularly low locations with a hot climate.
By the way, the name Topanito is derived from "Topan", the seat of the gods, of the Mexican natives.
"Tequila" means as much as "gift of the gods".
Tasting notes:Color: Clear.
Nose: Fruity, notes of mangoes, salt, earth.
Taste: Fresh, earthy, notes of green peppers, parmesan.
Finish: Long lasting, mild.
Enjoy the mezcal neat or with Mexican food.
