This Lepanto from Gonzáles Byass is, like all other products from their house, something very special. Once again, the new creation of Gonzáles Byass brings the connoisseurs to marvel. The name is supposed to remind of the sea battle in 1571 at Lepanto. The Ottoman fleet was defeated by the Holy League at that time. The abbreviation 'O.V.' stands for 'Oloroso Viejo'; the indication for the fact that after the normal maturation still another maturation takes place in barrels which have contained Oloroso Viejo before. The blend matures so for the time being about 15 years and further three years in ex-Oloroso Veijo barrels. Tasting notes:Colour: Amber with copper accents. Nose: Intense, notes of wood, nuts. Taste: Warm, woody, sweet, hints of spices, fruits. Finish: Long lasting. Best enjoyed neat.
