The name Slivovica is derived from the Croatian word Slivja (=plum) and already reveals quite a lot about the national drink of Croatia. The basis for this extraordinary plum brandy is the Bistrica plums, which are grown around the capital Zagreb. Before fermentation, the harvested plums are carefully sorted and selected, crushed together with their ground seeds and distilled in copper kettles.
