Chateau Fombrauge Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classe 2014
Type | Red |
Grapes | Merlot, Cabernet Franc |
Country/Region | France, Bordeaux |
Vintage | 2014 |
In 2014, the picking of the grapes at Chateau Fombrauge started on the 2nd of October and lasted until the 20th in Saint Emilion. This year has got the quality of the matured Merlot grapes thanks to the heavy soil which gives freshness and an intense density of aromas to the wine. Composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet franc this wine shows strong notes of black fruits ( blackcurrant, mashed blackberry, liquorice and cedar) coupled with a refreshing mineral touch. On the mouth, the wine is nervous and appears to be sweet. It turns into a noble and elegant tannic structure with well established tannins - they are well extracted and offer a dominating docility. The finish is fruity and long. This is a wine of great potential.
