Can we talk about the wine first and label second? It's a tasty dry Riesling from the Pfalz in southern Germany, made by a couple of brothers, Martin & Alex. Citrus and green apples, with a really strong mineral finish to it. Great acidity too. Now the label. The brothers took over the winery from their father, Norbert, and embarked on a modernising spree. What happened? "Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll" Riesling was chosen as a pit wine at the German Grand Prix. It is a fact universally acknowledged but not always accepted that a good wine label can put you in pole position. Thankfully, the Bauer brothers' wines have plenty of substance as well as style.
