The Domaine du Clos Saint Louis Fixin Entre Deux Velles Monopole Rouge 2022 has Fixins famed power and intensity, but it is so complex and nuanced.  Produced from a single vineyard planted exclusively with old vine Pinot Noir, it has begun to shed some of its youthful stiffness and reveal its underlying beauty. 2022 was a lovely year for red Burgundy, and its given the Domaine du Clos Saint Louis Fixin Entre Deux Velles Monopole even greater concentration and depth. Now coming into its drinking window, this will develop wonderfully over the coming decade.

The Domaine du Clos Saint Louis Fixin Entre Deux Velles Monopole Rouge 2022 is a big, brooding wine that shows Pinot Noirs darker side. Deeply coloured, the nose combines red and black fruits most notably cherries and raspberries - alongside earth, smoke, and beetroot. Mouth filling and intense, there are multiple layers of black skinned fruits and minerals held within a firm structure. Let this breathe for a couple of hours if drinking now and serve with game, mushroom risotto, coq-au-vent or hard white cheeses.

About the Producer

Domaine du Clos Saint-Louis lies in northern Burgundy between Marsannay-la-Côte and Gevrey-Chambertin, in the wine-growing commune of Fixin. Family-owned and run, it was established in 1918 and has gone on to become one of the most important and respected domaines in the commune. Today it is run by the husband-and-wife team of Philippe and Martine Bernard who with help from their daughter Virginie tend their 19 hectares of well-sited Pinot Noir. Practitioners of sustainable viticulture for many years the domaine has gained Terra Vitis certification.
