94 Points - International Wine Report. Situated on the same terroir as Châteaux Margaux and Palmer stands the impressive Chateau Grand Tayac. With the help of wine consultant Eric Boissenot, the grapes are sourced from a single parcel of vines with an age of over 50 years to produce this consistently high scoring and limited production Margaux. Château Grand Tayac is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and will continue to develop over the next few years to come. A hidden gem!  "Overall this is an absolutely fabulous wine that is already quite expressive, however it looks as if it will have an even brighter future ahead. There won't be much of this to go around, this is an extremely small production release made by one of Bordeaux's most talented winemaker/consultants Eric Boissenot."  J. D'Angelo June 2020

About the Producer

Château Grand Tayac stands at the north of the Margaux appellation in the commune of Soussans. The parcel of vines is on the same terroir and proximity to the river as the vineyards of Chateaux Margaux and Palmer. The view of the river from the 50 year old vines is sublime everything is done at this property to emulate the work at the top chateaux. This shows in the Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast ratings of over 90 points 2 years in a row. The superb gravel soils allow the vines to be strong as they need to grow roots of 3-5 metres and the reflection of the sunlight means that the vines are short and compact above ground. This makes wines that are deep in colour and rich in tannin and texture. It is a single parcel of vines so the wine is constant and coherent.

Alain and Corrine Roses added Château Grand Tayac to their properties in Haut-Médoc and Moulis in 2004. In purchasing the beautiful post house that stands in the heart of their vineyard, they have been able, along with the help of Eric Boissenot to maximize the potential of this hidden jewel.

94 Points - International Wine Report. "The 2016 Château Grand Tayac is a wonderful showing which starts off with inviting aromas of red and dark currants, along with florals, tobacco, spices, minerals and hints of licorice that all develop beautifully in the glass. On the palate this possesses a medium/full body that is well-structured with velvety, yet supportive tannins. It continues to impress as it displays a wonderful elegance and precision through the long polished finish. Overall this is an absolutely fabulous wine that is already quite expressive, however it looks as if it will have an even brighter future ahead. There won't be much of this to go around, this is an extremely small production release made by one of Bordeaux's most talented winemaker/consultants Eric Boissenot." J. D'Angelo June 2020

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast. "Still showing plenty of wood aging, this wine is young. However, the ripe black-currant fruit and the structured tannins point to a good aging potential. From a single parcel planted in 1962, the wine has concentration and a rich character. Let it mature over several years and drink from 2023. ROGER VOSS 12/31/2018

Neal Martin (Vinous): The 2016 Grand Tayac has a tightly wound but classy bouquet, well defined with blackberry, graphite and crushed violet aromas. The palate is medium bodied with supple tannin, very lithe and harmonious with a detailed, sensual dark plum and boysenberry finish that glides across the mouth. Difficult to resist.
