92 Points - RV WineCritics - A great Barolo from the cru Ravera, close to the villages of Barolo and Novello, from the fantastic 2017 vintage. This Barolo from Cagliero is pure and authentic, beautiful structure with a bouquet of violets, ripe fruit (plums) and spices. Layered and round in the mouth and beautifully balanced, young but pleasant tannins on the tongue, resulting in an endless finish. Already very good today, this wine will age beautifully for years to come!
Taste
Aromas of dark-skinned fruit, baking spice and cedar form the subtle nose. The full-bodied palate offers blackberry jam, mocha and tobacco alongside assertive tannins.
About the Producer
The Azienda Agricola Cagliero grows the best of Piedmontese grapes, from which the most prestigious red wines are produced. The estate is 6 hectares in size and they grow the classical grapes from the Langhe area: Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Freisa plus a little part of white grapes (Arneis, Favorita and the international Sauvignon Blanc).
All the Farms vineyards are excellently situated on gently-sloping hillsides, either south or south-east facing and at an average altitude of 300 metres above sea level. The soil type is mixed marl with sand originating in the tertiary era. The property includes the Ravera and Terlo crus. The Winery capacity is from 45,000 to
50,000 bottles of wine per year.

"Rich and spicy, it shows concentration in the notes of black plums, burnt sage, hot pebble, black pepper and camphor. Many orange blossoms in the background dominate the secondary scene. Full body, well-crafted round and smooth tannins and a solid and compact finish. Better from 2021."
