What can we say about the wines of (Giuseppe) Quintarelli. The godfather of the Veneto wines and famous for the Amarone. Not so much at all. This is just the top and after the death of Giuseppe this has become very scarce. This dry mineral white wine is fruity with notes of pear. citrus, lilies. and hazelnuts. Strong attack with a nice bitterness in the finish. Long finish.

The shy and quiet aging man, Giuseppe Quintarelli, is THE frame of reference for winemakers from the Valpolicella. Born and raised in Cerè, he has been running the family business since 1954, which dates back to 1924. For the last 10 years he has been assisted by his cousin Marco. This house presents very traditionally made wines, with those ever so recognizable, unique handwritten labels. His red wines age for an unprecedented long (6 to 7 years) in Slovenian oak barrels, except for the cuvée 'Alzero', which undergoes aging in barriques.

'Our traditional flavors and methods should be cherished and not forgotten. But above all, we cannot force nature. We have to keep calm, be patient, use the right techniques and have a lot of passion.' These words symbolize the philosophy of the most famous producer of the Veneto.

Quintarelli's wines (together with Dal Forno and the rising Star Garbole ) are particularly complex and are without a doubt among the greatest wines in all of Italy. Icon wines that without any form of marketing have become the most sought after wines in the world, the ultimate 'wanna haves' for collectors, even rare on wine lists in the best restaurants, almost mythical in reputation.
