A delicious Sicilian white wine this Shamaris Grillo from winery Cusumano. Made from 100% Grillo grapes and you can taste it! The wine is well balanced with lots of fruit and floral aromas (peach, strawberry, melon, apple, jasmine) and soft accents of sour herbs (lemon seeds and mineral). A powerful, versatile, medium-bodied wine with lively acids for a truly fantastic taste experience. Robert Parker also appreciated this wine, especially for this price!
Winery Cusumano works primarily with native Sicilian grapes, as most people in Sicily do. In the 90s his sons Alberto and Diego Cusumano took over the winery and since then brought it to the top 10 of Sicilian wine producers. Already 14 times they could reach the highest rating in the Gambero Rosso. Particularly remarkable about this winery is the very high level of all wines, from the simple bianco to the rare rosso. Their statement: "Every drop is a masterpiece" is completely correct!
The vineyard where this beautiful Shamaris comes from is oriented to the north and production takes place in Monte Pietroso and Marchesa Monreale, located at 500 meters above sea level. After manual picking in the first half of September, k old soaking (14 ° C) follows for 5 hours, followed by pneumatic pressing, cold decantation and fermentation at 18 to 20 ° C. The wine then goes for 4 months in stainless steel "sur lie" barrels and continues to mature in the bottle.
The Shamaris is recommended as an aperitif, and also delicious with salads with fish, other fish dishes and pastas.
