100 percent Nebbiolo is your glass. The highlight of the Montaribaldi winery which we believe has more to offer than most (much) more expensive Barolos. The Sori is one of the top wines of the wine company of the Talliano brothers. Coming from the vineyard "facing south" (= Sori), on the slope near the house. A top parcel that gives better wine. The vineyard is located in the municipality of Barbaresco and is located at an altitude of 270 meters with a southern (sori) lighting. This is one of the reasons why this vineyard produces wonderfully beautifully aged Nebbiolo grapes. The land around it, by the way, is all from Gaja. Thanks to the perfect location of the vineyards of Montaribaldi and the typical white soil of the hills in Langa, the elegant wines that come from it have a long life

The grapes are stripped of the stems and are soaked for 14 days, 4 days at a temperature of 30 to 32 ° C, 10 days at 27 to 28 ° C. At the end of the fermentation process, the wine goes into new oak barrels for 2 years. After a light purification, the wine is bottled and stays in the cellars of Montaribaldi for another year, and then the Sori Barberesco comes on the market.

The Sori Barberesco is a very elegant wine and very rich in scent. In the glass, the wine has the deep garnet red color with orange reflexes. The scent of roses and pansies are clearly visible and blend well with the scent of plums, tobacco, cocoa, cloves and black peppers. Powerful, strong tannin, sweet and velvet. Length. Advice is certainly to give the wine some oxygen in its early years and to open the wine 2 hours in advance and then you get a mighty nice glass of wine. Balance, length, intensity and concentration of flavors, everything is right with this wine. So enjoy and this Barbaresco DOCG Sorì Montarbaldi is perfect to combine with red and roasted meat and savory old cheese.

BAROLO VS BARBERESCO

Piedmont - synonymous with truffles, risotto and, of course, delicious wines! - is considered one of the best wine regions in Italy. Due to the local conditions of the terrain, soil and weather, a number of fantastic wines are made. Regarding the red wines, the Barolos and Barbaresco's are world-famous, powerful wines. Although the Barolo and Barbaresco are made from the same grape, Nebbiolo, and produced in adjacent areas less than 16km apart, the wines of Barbaresco and Barolo have a number of characteristic differences.

The Barbaresco area is located south of the Tanaro river and, due to its location, the area is a slightly higher average temperature that makes it possible for the Nebbiolo grape to ripen just a little earlier than in the Barolo area. Young tannins in a young Barbaresco are often not as hard as Barolo and under DOCG rules it is permitted to release Barbaresco for sale a year earlier than Barolo. The most pronounced difference between the two wines is that Barbaresco's tannins tend to soften faster, with the wine becoming more accessible at a younger age than Barolo. The Barbaresco area is smaller than the Barolo area with an annual production of approximately 35% of the Barolo production with the result that Barbaresco is not so widely available on the market.
