The Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino is aged in 50% small oak barrels and 50% large oak barrels. It has a bouquet with notes of cherries, raspberry prunes and figs. This is a perfectly made wine with a great deal of intensity, power and purity. The mouthfeel is round. The Brunello has a robust character, deep and complex, rich and luscious softened by an elegant and long lasting taste. This Brunello is an absolute must for the wine lover who prefers the softer side of Sangiovese grape. The wine has received 93 Parker points and comes from the great Brunello year.
Brunello di Montalcino is a special wine region, but within Brunello Banfi is a special winery. About 800 hectares of vineyards have been planted on the estate of no less than 2830 hectares, making Castello Banfi by far the largest and most important producer of Brunello di Montalcino. In addition, all kinds of other wines are made on the basis of the region's own grapes or imported grape varieties such as chardonnay or pinot grigio. The estate is dominated by a beautifully restored medieval castle, which houses a glass museum, a wine shop and two restaurants. This makes it more than worth a visit.
