Corimbo from Bodegas La Horra is the latest wine adventure from Bodegas Roda known for its beautiful Rioja wines. The winery here in the Ribera del Duero is called Bodegas La Horra. The Corimbo comes from the golden mile in the Ribera del Duero valley. The project was started in 2006 and the first vintage was vinified in 2008. The construction of the new bodega started in 2012. 2011 is the second year of Corimbo I and truly a top year. Corimbo is a botanical term. When the thistle flower blooms horizontally, we speak of a Corimbo. A Corimbo would be quite rare.

The Corimbo I is the top model of Bodegas La Horra (in line with their Roda line such as the Roda and Roda I). The wine is aged for 14 months in 80% French and 20% American oak. For 1/3 new oak barrels. The Corimbo I is deep red in color. Youthful aromas of blueberry, density, must be rolled in the glass to release all its fragrances. A discreet spiciness emerges, but with no trace of barrel aging. Juicy in the mouth, lots of everything, big attack, tasty. In the second sip we notice more structure, depth and the Ribera character unfolds more openly. Nevertheless, the Corimbo I possesses a certain Roda identity.
