The vineyards of Pujanza that are not bottled separately are blended in the Hado. The grapes in this Hado therefore come from the top vineyards of Pujanza. The Hado is not just an entry-level wine, but is a wine with which he wants to represent the house style of Bodegas Pujanza and the new trend in the Rioja with wines focused on the fruit and in which the wood should not dominate. In addition, Carlos wants a wine that is price-technically tolerable and that is more than successful with the Hado. The Hado is a medium bodied, clean and serious wine. The wine is nicely ripe in the nose but certainly not over-ripe. Beautiful tones of wood and spices which are very well integrated in both the nose and the palate. On the palate it has fine tannins that also give the wine a good storage potential. This is a very good and honest Rioja. Drink 2016-2022. The 2013 year is very elegant. Slightly fresher and more delicate due to the (relatively) cooler temperatures. The hail in the late spring has also resulted in a (very) small harvest, which has benefited the quality of the other grapes. Is carried out in a beautiful magnum of 1.5 liters.

Carlos San Pedro is the owner of Bodegas Pujanza, who uses an almost manic approach to produce wines of the highest level. Carlos' original idea was to produce a single single vineyard from Laguardia - the capital of the Rioja - with Pujanza. But gradually it became clear that the terroirs of the vineyards are unique and different so that he changed his mind and decided to blend the uniqueness of the Hado terroirs. Carlos does not use external yeasts, and he consciously chooses to keep the amount of new wood low, but also to raise the wines for longer in large (used) barriques. Bodegas Pujanza has approximately 30 hectares of vineyards which are all located close to the beautiful Bodega. The vineyards are all between 600 (Cisma) and 720 meters (Norte) height.

The Hado has also been tasted by Hubrecht Duijker (July 2016). See the tasting note below and it can also be found on: https://hubrechtduijker.com/actueel-maandmagazine/

"In the Rioja wine village of Laguardia, at the foot of the rising, sheltering Sierra de Cantabria, Carlos San Pedro (fourteen years ago started his own domain, Viñedos Pujanza. This now covers 40 hectares, spread over four plots at heights between 600 and 720 meters Carlos, fourth generation from a family of winemakers, uses only natural yeasts and does not want too much wood in his wines (so few new barrels) Quality and fruit, that is what he strives for. Pujanzo Hado 2012, a mouth-filling, juicy, soft fresh wine from tempranillo only, with spiciness, indeed controlled wood tones, quite a bit of berry fruit and a long finish. This - literally - impressive wine "
