Concentrated dark berry aromas with a hint of spice. The wine is weighty with smooth tannins, a rich, ripe palate and a long, dry finish. Producer Details The monastery at Kloster Eberbach (Rheingau) was established by Cistercian monks from Burgundy in 1136, bringing with them vines, expertise and laying the foundation for Pinot Noir production in Germany. Today the estate, managed by Dieter Greiner covers 500 acres (380 acres Riesling / 80 acres Pinot Noir) and as a founding member of the VDP (Germany's finest estates) its acclaimed by journalists worldwide. The estates vineyards sites along the Rhine are managed by Stefan Seyffardt, including the monopole of Steinberg, Centgericht and Neroberg. In the Vineyard Maximum yield is 35hl per hectare. In the Winery After careful hand-selection Hllenberg's best grapes from the finest vineyard areas are developed in the 'Cabinetkeller'. The wine traditionally rests for at least 18 months in wooden casks before being bottled. Food Recommendations Good match with roast meats and game - decant if possible, to allow the wine to develop further
